This is for Run Talk Run leaders. This is for Run Talk Run attendees. This is for any damn person who is interested in knowing how to safely hold a conversation with someone who wants to end their life.
This year’s theme is ‘young people and mental health in a changing world’… and it really got me thinking about the mental health challenges that lie ahead for my younger brother and sister, aged 14 and 10 respectively.
Before I launch into this, I just want to say that I don’t necessarily agree with the sentiments in this post title, but I would be lying if I said it hasn’t crossed my mind.
One of the main reasons I felt like I didn’t “belong” as a teenager, was the bullshit story I was telling myself of WHY I didn’t belong.
Sometimes I write poems.
Firstly, remember that feelings don’t just pop out of nowhere - THOUGHTS create feelings.
Whilst we are unable to undo evolutionary developments, we can try and combat it by changing the way we take on positive stimuli.
