Hey, I’m Maisie and I’m the RTR Nottingham Leader. I started running around 10 years ago, during a time where I struggled with over exercising and restrictive eating. During my recovery journey I began to use running in a healthier way, and began taking part in Spartan Races. Here running was less about how far and long I could go for, but more about the challenge of getting around the course and being part of a community. Running now allows me an escape, and gets me back into nature which always helps me to chill out.
I think regular exercise can be a great aid to everyone’s mental health. So I love that RTR provides a space for individuals to talk about mental health while also benefiting from the joys of running. I’m working hard to promote the benefits that exercise has on mental health through my new venture The Mind and Body Studio. Through this I discovered Jess and the amazing work that she does, she has been so supportive and made me feel confident enough to begin RTR Nottingham.
