Thursday 1st February was MADE for Run Talk Run. Why? Because its National #RunAndTalk day! To support Time to Talk Day on Thursday 1st February, England Athletics are encouraging people to #RunAndTalk to improve their mental wellbeing through running and to break down the stigma associated with mental health by getting people talking about it. This is EVERYTHING that Run Talk Run stands for and I am so excited to get everyone together for a run on Thursday to support this cause.
As per their website:
The #RunAndTalk campaign aims to improve mental health through running in England by:
- getting people talking about mental health, sharing their experiences and removing stigma
- raising awareness of mental health problems
- supporting people experiencing mental health problems to be physically active through running, whether that is to support them in starting, returning to or continuing to run
We’re often told that physical activity is good for our bodies and our minds, but having a mental health problem can make it difficult to get started, for a number of reasons, ranging from negative body image, or a lack of self-esteem through to practical reasons such as having no one to go with, or not knowing where to get started.
So, if you’re free this Thursday evening I would absolutely adore to see you join me and the other Run Talk Runners for a 7.5km jog/run. We meet at Monument Station from 6-6.15pm, ready to run bang on 6.15! The run finishes at London Bridge station. Absolutely ALL abilities are welcome, from the speedy elites (!) to the ultimate beginners just starting their running journey.
Come find me on insta – @runtalkrun – DM if you’re keen and/or if you have any questions. The Run Talk Run Community kind of lives on Facebook in a closed group – here – , and they’re all such an amazing bunch of running beans. Come say hiiiiii.
